KARA, Girls’ Generation, 2PM, 2NE1, SHINee, and CNBLUE receive nominations for MTV Video Music Awards Japan 2012

 

Some of the top Kpop stars have received nominations at the MTV VMAJ 2012 (Video Music Awards Japan 2012).
On March 19th, MTV Japan revealed the nominees for the MTV VMAJ 2012 (Video Music Awards Japan 2012). KARA, Girls’ Generation, 2PM, 2NE1, SHINee, and CNBLUE all received nominations in various categories.
In the “Best Group Video” category, 2PM received a nomination for “I’m Your Man“.
In the “Best New Artist Video” category, CNBLUE received a nomination for “In My Head” along with 2NE1 with “I AM THE BEST“.
In the “Best Video of the Year” category, Girls’ Generation received a nomination for “MR. TAXI“.
In the “Best Choreography” category, SHINee received a nomination for “LUCIFER“.
In the “Best Album of the Year” category, KARA received a nomination for ‘Super Girl‘ along with Girls’ Generation with ‘GIRLS’ GENERATION‘.
This year’s award show will be held in Chiba at Makuhari Messe Hall on June 23rd.

SHINee tops Hanteo’s weekly chart + runs ‘SHINee trucks’ around Seoul

 

SHINee continues to make headlines with their “Sherlock” comeback.  It’s just been revealed that the album has topped album sales analyst site Hanteo and their daily and weekly chart.

SM Entertainment artists to become SM Entertainment shareholders


 


 SM Entertainment, one of Korea’s largest entertainment companies, has recently announced that it would be issuing approximately $881,000 worth of new shares for its artists. As a part of their capital increase through a third party allotment, SM Entertainment artists will become major shareholders of the company, thereby effectively owning a piece of their company.
On March 26th, SM Entertainment announced the plan through DART Financial Supervisory Service, which will provide SM artists Kangta, BoA, TVXQ, Super Junior, Girl’s Generation, SHINee, f(x), Go Ara, and more of approximately $881,000 worth of SM Entertainment stock.
SM Entertainment will issue 22,120 new shares of stock with each individual share valued at 44,550 won (approximately $39 – $40 USD) each.
Kangta, BoA, and most of the Super Junior and Girls’ Generation members will be receiving 680 shares each (value of around $27,200 for each member), while SHINee and f(x) members will be receiving 340 shares each (value of around $13,600 for each member).
SM Entertainment released a statement saying, “This capital increase represents a strengthening partnership between the company and its artists, and we hope that as shareholders, our artists will share and take part in the vision and growth of the company.
They continued, “We are expecting a global growth of the company through this renewed partnership with the artists.”

On tokyohive yesterday, it was announced that Perfume would be hosting the “MTV VMAJ 2012 (MTV VIDEO MUSIC AWARDS JAPAN 2012) at Makuhari Messe on June 23rd. Now a list of performers, special guests, and the nominees have been revealed.
Acts performing at VMAJ 2012 are as follows: EXILE, Kato Miliyah, 2NE1, 2PM, and Sandaime J Soul Brothers
The guest celebrities will be: AAA, Kaneko Nobuaki (RIZE), ROLA, SCANDAL, Tsuchiya Anna, and w-inds.

A photo of 2NE1 member Sandara Park standing next to the SHINee members was recently shared online.
The photo above surfaced on an online community site with the title, ‘The petite Sandara Park‘.
The photo was taken during a shoot for the cosmetics brand Etude, and Sandara stood side by side with the members of SHINee.
What immediately caught netizens’ attention was the way Sandara had to stand on a platform much like Girls’ Generation to be on eye level with the boys.
Short, but still cute,” the fans wrote upon seeing the photo, in addition to “Sandara in the midst of giants,” and “Look at how small her face is.”

SHINee wins #1! Performances from March 29th’s ‘M! Countdown’


Mnet’s “M! Countdown” is back with another spectacular episode chock-full of exciting performances!
Aside from the usual stages on tonight’s episode, boy band Busker Busker made their debut with “Cherry Blossom Ending“.
Legendary K-pop group Shinhwa has finally returned with spectacular performances of “Venus” and “Hurt“.
Furthermore, popular band CNBLUE returned to the stage with “Hey You” and “Still in Love“.
Lastly, girl group SPICA continues with another around of promotions for their latest repackaged album hit titled “Painkiller“.
Competing for the #1 spot, it was a hot battle between SHINee, Big Bang, and 2AM, but in the end, it was SHINee who clinched the win tonight with “Sherlock“!

SHINee is introduced on French TV


 

Hallyu continues to gather more and more popularity on the world stage, and it has just added to its list of accomplishments through popular group SHINee, who was recently featured on a famous French show.
On March 27th, French channel CANAL plus‘s ‘Le Petit Journal‘ featured a news segment in which a clip of SHINee’s “Sherlock” was played.

On this broadcast, host Yann Barthes introduced SHINee as a forerunner in the worldwide K-pop boom and played the music video for “Sherlock” with translated lyrics. He even talked about the fan favorite dance moves that SHINee showcases during the chorus.

“Sherlock” was introduced alongside LMFAO‘s “Live My Life” music video. Barthes even asked the guest star, a French presidential candidate named Jacques Cheminade, “Which of the two songs would you choose?

‘Le Petit Journal’ is a popular French talk show that is broadcast every day of the week except Saturdays, and has in the past featured guests such as French President Nicolas Sarkozy and legendary rock group Metallica.

In related news, SHINee won #1 the March 29th broadcast of Mnet‘s M! Countdown with “Sherlock”.

SHINee to release Japanese version of “Sherlock”

Korean group SHINee has announced that they will be releasing their new single, “Sherlock (Japanese ver.)“, on May 16th!
The title track is the Japanese version of SHINee’s song “Sherlock”, which has already been released in South Korea. The single will also include a Japanese original song called “Keeping love again” as its coupling track.
“Sherlock (Japanese ver.)” will be available in 3 different versions: Limited Edition, Regular First Press Edition, and Regular Edition. The Limited Edition will come with a DVD containing the video clip for the title song and it’s making-of footage. It will also enclose a 28-page photo booklet.
